Who we are
InstaSoko is run by Instasoko Limited, which is responsible for your personal data. For any question or request, write to xboost1000@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your sign-in: the name, email address and photo of your Google account, or your phone number. Guests get an anonymous identifier instead.
- The details you give us for delivery: your name, mobile number, delivery addresses, landmarks and the point you choose on the map.
- Your location, only if you allow it, to place the pin on the delivery map. We never track you in the background.
- Your orders, basket and favourites, and the mobile-money transaction codes you enter.
- A notification token for your phone, if you allow notifications about your orders.
- How you use the website and the app: pages and screens viewed, taps, the type of device and your approximate location from your internet address, measured by Google Analytics.
- In the Android app, the advertising ID of your phone and information about the ads shown, used by Google AdMob (see Ads below).
How we use it
To take, deliver and support your orders, to let you sign in on any device, to send the order updates you agreed to, to prevent fraud and to improve InstaSoko. We do not sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
The shop and the rider handling an order receive your name, phone number and delivery address for that order. Service providers process data for us: Google Firebase (sign-in, database, file storage and hosting), Google Maps Platform (maps and address search), Google Analytics (how the website and app are used) and, in the Android app, Google AdMob (ads). Their servers are in South Africa, Europe and the United States. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
Ads
The Android app shows ads from Google AdMob, which help keep InstaSoko free to use. Only a banner at the bottom of browsing screens, never on product pages, the basket, checkout or your orders. Google may use your phone’s advertising ID and your approximate location from your internet address to show and measure ads and, where allowed, to personalise them. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent first. You can reset your advertising ID or turn off ad personalisation in your phone’s settings, under Google and then Ads. The website shows no ads. Google explains how it uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
How long we keep it
Your account data is kept for as long as you have an account. Orders are kept for up to five years as business and accounting records, including after an account is deleted.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your details and addresses in the app, turn notifications off in your phone’s settings, and ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it.
Deleting your account
In the app or on instasoko.world, sign in, open Account and tap Delete account. This deletes your profile, saved addresses, favourites, basket and sign-in straight away. Orders you placed stay in our records, as explained above. You can also ask us to delete your account by writing to xboost1000@gmail.com from the email address or phone number you use with InstaSoko.
Children
InstaSoko is for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
