Gold and silver refinery in Germiston, set up by the Chamber of Mines of South Africa in 1920 and one of the largest single-site precious-metals refining and smelting complexes in the world. An LBMA Good Delivery refiner and one of the LBMA referees, it casts and mints gold and silver bars, makes coin blanks and produces the Krugerrand with the South African Mint.
